A budget will involve your personal funds, like your savings and your normal income. It will also be made up of money that other contributors, like your parents or grandparents, may give you for your wedding.
While your mileage may vary, a typical expenditure breakdown looks like this:

- Catering & Alcohol 20 - 30%
- Photography 10 - 15%
- Miscellaneous 10 - 20%

So why do these budget ranges vary so much? Well, they depend heavily on what is most important to a couple. Some may be foodies who want to serve the most impeccable cuisine at their wedding and are willing to give up some of their floral budget to compensate. Likewise, some couples may want spectacular photos taken at their wedding and are willing to have a bar that is not top shelf.
While the budget provided above can be a great starting point, you can get a better idea of your budget by adjusting the percentages provided to fit your priorities. While the process of prioritizing tasks can sound painstaking and laborious, this is also the stage where you make your wedding your own!
